Maybe I spoke too soon. On second or third look, I saw the picture with
the connector diagrams and the ground (common) connection is on the
rearmost ring, like the Apple, but then, in the description of the
adapter, they say:

"Apple hands-free and earbud headset microphones are not compatible with
PCs or gaming consoles. Plese check for console headset compatibility
before using with PCs."

Not knowing exactly what you have, it's not really clear what that means
or if it will work for you. It's possible to wire it up so that the mic
and headphones will both have their common on the sleeve of their
respective branch plugs. Maybe they did it right, maybe not. Better ask.
