Hi all! We often come here to ask questions and get help. I now want
to give back to the group. I'm pleased to share with you the story of
my install. My personnal website is in french, my primary language, but
I guess the photos will speak for themself just right! You may also
recognize brands, models and specs of the equipment. I would be glad to
answer questions here.

The site is :

Head unit is an Alpine CDA-9815

Sub is a Dayton Titanic 12 inches, in a sealed MDF box of unknown volume
(probably about 1.5 cu-f) and fed by a Pioneer Premier PRS-D2000T,
bridged mono to 600 watts.

Low-mids are Dynaudio MW160GT, fed by another PRS-D2000T, at 2 X 150
watts, in custom DIY MDF/fiberglass kick panels pods.

Tweeters are LPG, model 26NA, 1 inch alu dome, fed by the HU built-in
amp, about 2 X 12 watts (tweeters are 8 ohms).

Active crossover is provided by the HU built-in DSP. 24 dB per octave
at 100 Hz and 4 kHz, subject to furter fine-tuning!

Light parametric EQ and time alignment is also provided by the HU DSP.

Incredibly, this fine system cost me only about 1500$, by carefull
product research and shopping. The Premier amps are 2006 models and can
be had for small change on eBay. I got the Dynaudios used for less than
150$. Dito for the HU, at 400$. The Dayton titanic line is the bargain
of the decade!

I have not heard many high-end car in my life, but as long as I'm
concerned, I won't ever need anything better or louder than my curent
system! Sound is clear, clean and defined as the best home hi-fi but
with the punch of a live rock concert! Brief testing measured about 124
dB, C-weighted and slow response, on the analog RS meter. This is not
that much by certain standards but it's plenty for everyday normal
listening, IMHO.

The bus will undergo an extensive body restoration in the future. For
this reason, I have not applied any damping or acoustic treatment at
this time. I expect another enhancement of the sound quality when it's
done.

Comments and questions welcomed! Regards,
