View Full Version : Middius' Stereo System?

Can anyone describe or explain George's current audio system? The reason
I ask is that he obviously has some extreme flat earth voodo/subjective
biases against any form of scientific or rational approaches to
discussions of audio, and I'm curious what components he actually ended
up using. (Also, he clearly doesn't enjoy discussing audio matters in
the first place.)

Queenie, I had no idea you were so interested in my possessions.
> Can anyone describe or explain George's current audio system?
Actually, I'm between systems right now. All I have is a pair of
headphones and my TV. I put my gear up for sale on ebay but, sadly, it
didn't sell.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260152327924&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fse arch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle%3D 260152327924%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1
So I donated it to a local church. (They'll take anything, and they pick
up too.)
What are you selling, Queenie? I don't want your thudding old Thiel
speakers but if you have anything decent, I might be interested.

Again, not. You recently guessed I had Polks and I told you "Not".
I'm in the process of 'borg-proofing my home. The main antigen to audio
'borgism is, of course, vinyl, but I don't have any. I've scarfed up
some expensive cables and some faceplates from expensive dead amps.
I plan to line my listening room with the cables and attach the
faceplates to moderate-priced electronics. That should suffice since
very few 'borgs know where I live.

Bratzi has identified another inferior genetic strain that brings down
the average.

I seriously doubt you'll ever get a straight answer.
One reason - the Middiot is a made-up persona.

I suspect that the real person who perpetrates the Middiot persona has some
fairly good stuff, maybe nothing exceptional.

My theory is that the person who manipulates the Middiot persona thinks that
he actually knows a lot about audio and is afraid of revealing what he knows
for fear that he might reveal who he is.
Besides, one of the parameters of the Middiot persona is that he doesn't
care about audio.

If you are going to say things, make sure they are correct.
I don't believe anybody here has any bias againsy 'rational'
discussion. But do you consider pooping all over threads with a well-
known bias against vinyl, even when vinyl is not the topic, to be
'rational'?
Here's a free turd for you: I agree that properly-sized speaker cables
do not sound different to me. They could be copper, silver, gold, or
aluminum as far as I care. I could even agree that properly-designed
and built amplifiers do not sound different to me. However, rather
than try to beat that drum into anybody who disagrees with that and
attempting to force them to agree with me, I also understand that
people will spend their money as they see fit. If they perceive an
improvement to their sound with $400/meter cables, even though I
disagree with them, why should I spend all that energy trying to
dissuade and convince them?
Now which approach is more 'rational' in your opinion? Which approach
creates more animosity?
You guys are incredible. The victim mentality is safe and sound on
RAO.
And no, I will not tell you what my system consists of. LOL!

That was a damned fine system you let go, George. I always liked eight-
tracks. They would automatically break up a long, boring song.

Good times.... The biggest drawback was keeping that behemoth clean. All
those nooks and crannies were dust magnets. Fortunately, my house is
reasonably 'borg-proof, so the dust didn't get gunked up with BorgSmugSnot.

As I think back, I realize that good old insane Arns may be onto
something. I cannot recall ever thinking that one eight-track sounded
any better than any other eight-track. I wonder why good old insane
Arns hasn't brought this up before, to help prove his case.

It's clear that Middius (or whoever he is) doesn't want to talk about
his system, or for that matter, audio issues in general (other than to
keep repeating his childish remarks about Arnie, etc.). The obvious
question is: Why? - Why should someone who spends that much time on an
audio newsgroup (and who has been repeating the same cutesy gibberish
over and over again for many years) not want to discuss his own system?
Or at least, systems he has listened to recently and liked? - George,
are you an example of what it means to be a "normal"?
