View Full Version : CD-R's from New Burner won't play on old Pioneer Head Unit

Here's my situation:

Recently my old computer died - I had it for 3+ years, and had an external
CD burner which I used to make obscene numbers of CD's that played without a
hitch in my again (the thing is 4+ years old) Pioneer head unit. When the
old computer died, I bought a new one with a standard internal CD burner.
However, the CD's that the new burner creates generally refuse to play in my
head unit, and it ends up spitting them out. The CD's which I made with my
old burner still play with no problem though. I've tried everything I can
short of buying a new stereo that I can think of (although I think thats
that I'll have to resort to). I've changed the burn speeds, changed CD-R
brands, and made sure my head unit was clean, all with no improvement. Does
anyone have any ideas on what I can do about this and why its happening? If,
as I suspect, I'm forced to buy a new head unit, what are some good solid
recommendations for head units that'll sound great without breaking the
bank? (I don't have any fancy amps or anything - just the Pioneer head unit
and the 4 matching speakers, which has always been plenty loud enough and of
good quality sound etc. etc. for me)

Thanks!

Are you using the same burning software? Make sure you are finalizing
the cd and using Disc At Once (DAO) mode. Try copying a known working
cd. If the copy works, then you know its a setting somewhere in your
burning software.
