I have a 2004 Gran Prix GTP Comp. G, that has the 6 disc indash CD
changer. [Monsoon system] It also has Onstar but no XM radio. My
question is what is the easiest way to add an amp and subs to this
system. Is there a line out adapter or something of that nature. My
amp is a RF P500-2 and my subs are Infinity 1252s. Thanx in advance...
:)

No idea if your stereo does, but if the deck has pre-amp RCA outs, no
problem, run RCA cables in your trunk, run power, hook up amps and
subs. But if it was that easy you wouldnt ask..

So if not, then one option is this: There are little $10 devices that
convert a speaker level signal to RCA, which ALL amps will take.
There are also amps that take speaker level input. I'd run power to
the trunk, splice the amp/converter into either of the left or right
rear speaker, hook up amps and subs. It's not the cleanest way to do
it, but it works good enough for subs in a trunk..

Or you can find a new deck that's compatible with all that hardware.

BAH I typed up a nice reply to this and it's not here after a day..
so let me recap -

You basically have one of 5 options that I can see

1. Determine if your deck does or doesn't have RCA pre-amp outs. If it
does, then your job is easy! Run power and RCA's to your trunk, hook
up amps and subs, rock n roll.. This is the absolute best way to do
it. Cleanest sound, you'll retain all balance and fader control,
etc. I think most stock car stereos DONT have em tho, so if that's
the case:

2. Get an amp that takes speaker-level signal, and splice it onto the
left or right rear speaker. Run power to your trunk, hook up amps and
subs, rock n roll.. Most amps do NOT take speaker level inputs, while
ALL have low level RCA inputs. so:

3. Get a little $10 device (idk what theyre called) that takes the
speaker level inputs, and converts it to pre-amp RCA. Splice THAT
onto one of your rear speakers, run power to your trunk, hook up amps
and subs, rock n roll..

*** Note than with option #2 and #3, your fader and balance will
affect the signal going to your sub amp. I dont beleive the amp sucks
enough juice to make your rear speaker sound any different, or out of
balance with the other speakers, but I could be wrong. I think #2 and
#3 isn't a great way of doing it, but if that's your last resort, then
it'll work well enough for subs. I wouldn't run my fronts off a setup
like that..

4. Get a new deck that is compatible with all your hardware (good
luck), and has RCA pre-amp outs, then see #1.

5. Do nothing and be content with your existing sound system.
bleaahh...
