www.bcae1.com you should check out this website before going any
further.
the fuse needs to be placed into a fuse holder. this fuse holder
should be wired within 18" of the battery. make sure you do all this
with the battery disconnected. do not put the fuse into the fuse
holder until you have all your connections made at the battery and the
amp.

i would never run an amp to a fuse box, no matter what size it is. go
to the battery and do it right.

I run my wire from battery to amp first with nothing hooked up. Then I
do any other wiring at same time while car is torn apart. Then hook it
up to battery with no fuse in it (the fuse at battery) and usually put
a meter/test light on it to see if it is grounded (shorted), if not I
hook up the amp and double check that, wrap up any other wiring, last I
put fuse in by battery to make it hot to amp and try to run it. Make
sure car has good ground to body if you are doing high power, or add
one. Always take care to check for sharp things near power wires,
always put on grommets or padding where needed to protect the hot
wire...or any non ground wire but the large hot wire usually is against
stuff the hardest. For power go right to the battery clamp/post, or
sometimes they have a terminal there with a nut/bolt to hook stuff too
but make sure the wire feeding it is big enough for your use. Little
amps you can wire to fuse box, lets say around 150wrms and less, or IMO
as I have and had no problems. Most cars are good for 60amps total load
in the fuse box, most have capacity for high draw things like power
seats that rarely get used. To the battery is better I guess, and it
depends on the car too, but small stuff it really does not matter. I
ran a lot of 300w amps that would not blow a 30amp fuse, also had a
quality 120w that would.
