OK, I understand the Sank DX77 ribbon mod, but $848?!?! What am I
missing here? Kinda looks like my M-260. Anyone have any ideas (or
perhaps rodger001 is even here among us)?
Feedback is excellent and he's been around for 6 years. Specializes in
ribbon mics. But what's so special about this mic, beyond the Sank
mod? BTW, I Googled the M560 and the references were for a
headphone-mounted mic. Just curious.

It's a Frankenbeyer! An M500 shell with an M260 motor assembly with a
Sank 77DX ribbon. Like it says, a one of a kind microphone, so I guess
he can ask whateverf he chooses for it and see if anyone pays that
much.
I'd guess that maybe $250 would be a realistic value, but only if he'd
take it back and give you a full refund if you didn't like it, and
there aren't a lot of eBay sellers who will do that. Given that this
mic is a completely unknown to everyone but the seller and Mr. Sank,
it's a big risk.

This is too strange to bother with, and I'm a guy with Beyer M160's,
M500's and an M360.

and, BTW, the cmc641 beat out the m160 here recently for an alto sax track.
If you want to hear the mix, it's Karyn Oliver's "America" at:
