I bought an MBox 3 years ago, that came with Pro Tools LE, and
SampleTank sampling software.
The whole setup was buried in a closet until recently.. and I finally
am trying to get all this stuff working together.
My goal, is to download midi tracks off the net.. and then jam along
with them to help me get better at playing in a full band
environment.
The default synth sounds that come with Microsoft built-in sound that
comes with XP suck of course. But surprisingly the SampleTank sounds
that I got with Pro Tools LE.. aren't a whole lot better. I believe
the version of SampleTank that I have is 1.9, or 1.1.9.. there's not
that many sounds that come with it either.
Is it possible.. I'm just not setting things up correctly.. and thats
why the quality of the sounds are so bad?? I'm comparing the sounds
to my very old original Roland Sound Canvas.. which in general are
much better than SampleTank. My Roland Sound Canvas.. has crapped
out on me.. I'm thinking of looking into the Roland/Edirol Virtual
Sound Canvas.. anybody try that out? Is it as good as the hardware
version??
