I have an Edirol R-09 digital recorder and a Sony ECM-DS70P Electret
Condenser Stereo Microphone. The Edirol has an on-off setting for
"Plug-in Power." Am I correct that if I plug the Sony mic into the
Edirol, I should turn plug-in power to On? And that this will not do
damage to Edirol or mic? Thanks.

Since the mic requires plug-in power and the recorder provides it, you
should turn it on. It should hurt neither the mic nor the mic nor the
recorder. In fact, the mic won't hardly work without power though they
seem to work well enough for people to say "It's very quiet. Does it
need phantom* power?"

* Phantom power and plug-in power are quite different but serve the
same purpose. They both power a microphone through the same cable as
the audio is carried.
