I just bought a new macbook pro and I have a Digi 002 connected to
it. I would love to get an mbox (1st series preferably) for when I'm
on the run.
My question is, is there a way to I can have pro tools installed on my
lap top so that I can have the option of running either my Digi 002 or
MBOX at any given time?

Thanks for your input

As far as I know, you can install Pro Tools LE on as many computers as
you like.
But you need Pro Tools Hardware (e.g. the DIGI002 or an MBox) connected
to the particular computer to run the software.

The Digi CoreAudio Manager in OSX will recognize (at boot) what ever Digi
hardware is connected. But obviously you will not be able to use both
hardware devices at the same time.. with-in PT. So basically the answer to
your question, is yes.

Yes. I just did this to be able to use my Lightbridge with PT. The key
is that both versions must be the same iteration. I am at 7.3.1 with
both. I ran into a snag because the installer for PT MP is only at 7.3,
which wouldn't go with PT LE 7.3.1 installed. So, I had to move the PT
LE application folder to the desktop, install PT MP 7.3 and then the
7.3.1 updater and then move the LE application back to the newly created
PT folder. So far, it's been great, although all my preferences didn't
translate to MP.

Now I can do remote recordings with nice pres and converters and bring
the files back home to my PT LE studio. Very nice! Not too happy at
having to buy PT all over again, but I am happy at what I can do now. If
only they'd allow me to record more than 18 tracks at once......
