View Full Version : What happens when tape decks stop working

February 2nd 07, 06:48 PM
I have a Technics 615 that I'm using to tansfrer old cassettes to CD,
WAV and MP3.
It just stopped working suddenly. The lights go on but there is no
motor transport.
Anyone know why this may be?

It's broken.

Well, you have provided no information about diagnosis. Pop the case and
look inside? Are the belts and idlers intact? Are the power supply voltages
good? Is the motor turning? Is there voltage across the motor pins and
is it correct?

On top of that, you're posting to an audio production group about cheap
consumer electronics, which is sort of frowned upon to begin with.
Take it to a tech and have him look at it.

The motor bearings froze.
The motor burned out
There's a loose connection
A switch is bad
The cassette is bad
It broke

Sorry, my telepathisticator is down today, so I can't tell what's up
with your cassette deck. Mind you, if you had included some
information...

Yes, it's the rectifying personifier. A known problem with the 615.

Good luck finding a replacement that still works. :-)
