Well this is frustrating. I have checked phonics site and found this
information
INSTALL ERROR ON XP PRO 64 BIT
Q: I am getting a error message that the helix drivers are not
installed correctly on XP Pro 64 operating system. Is there a
necessary driver to download? A: Thank you for contacting Phonic
again. 64 bit-driver is available for downlaod at http://hq.pho
This matches my problem and I have flags in device manager
The website address wasn't linked, and its incomplete....I
tried ...phonic.com and ......phonic.ftp...anyway, this is really
sloppy..
They don't even have the regular drivers for download !!!
anyway, can anyone provide a link or shed any light on getting this
board to work with xp 64
Best Regards,
Randall

Jeez, why do people buy the cheapest gear possible from a (relatively)
obscure vendor and then bitch when it doesn't work with the (nearly)
latest computer software?
If Phonic doesn't have a driver for a 64-bit OS then nobody else will,
with the possible exception of CEntrance. They have the Phonic Helix
on their Universal Driver compatibility list, and they're working on a
64-bit version of the driver. But it might cost you more for the
driver ($79) than the mixer cost.
Now if you were talking about a $1,000 RME interface, you'd have a
right to be frustrated, but then RME would probably be on top of this.
Phonic will take a while longer.

Hello,
I think there is an authoring error on their website. After removing a
trailing period from the download link
http://210.243.85.5/help/download/index.htm.
I was able to download the package (including xp 64 drivers) from this link:
http://210.243.85.5/help/download/openPDF.php?pdfFile=../../Brochure/hb12.zip
If you can't get it from there, feel free to mail me and I will forward
the zip file to you.

thanks for the replies...
I didn't spend a lot of money on a mixer because I don't use it enough
to justify it...
anyway the fact remains, the drivers existed but it was sloppy on the
site...
thanks for the help - my helix is now working and I was able to do
some voice
over work with vegas video - awesome...
trying to figure out how you got right website address out of that
broken non link, I didn't
look at the code - thanks for your efforts...
regards

Kudos to Phonic, then, for having drivers for an "advanced" operating
system that actually work, once you found them.
What was the problem? Did the link on the web site to what you thought
were the correct drivers taking you to some other driver that was
wrong for your system? It's amazing that manufacturer's web site
maintenance is sloppy and often not up to date, but it seems to be a
fact of life with more of them than we expect.

Hi Mike
If you look at what I quoted, the actually website they state is
http://hq.pho
the website is not even hot linked, its just plain text....
When I cut and pasted it, not surprisingly I went nowhere...
then I started experimenting with the link name - ie http://
hq.phonic.com etc etc...
http://www.phonic.com/support/index.php - check out this link and you
will see its pretty bad...
I know I vented in the post a little, but I just paid 6K for a new
computer and have spent the last
3 weeks fighting it, believe it or not, I have had 7 WD drives dead
out of the box !!!!
So, it does get a little tired...and my mixer was $300, so not great
but not a radio shack tandy either...
The links that peter provided are nowhere to be found on phonic.com,
don't have all day to search...
and there main download page does not have any 64 bit
drivers...anyway, its working - I'm happy....

You've had some mighty bad experiences. I paid less than $2K for a
Mackie MDR24/96 and it's been going great for over six years with no
dead drives. Maybe you need to sell that $6K computer for about $700
and start over with something that's a better match to a $300 mixer.
