I have $500 to spend on a mic preamp. Is there any other model to
consider other than an FMR RNP? I have a pair of RNCs and am impressed
by them.

For quality comparison, I record mostly rock using (up 'til now) the
preamps of either of two Soundcraft Spirit boards. I still have 4 ADATs
(in order to be sure that three would be working so I had 24 channels
available at any time) and I can also record to hard disk.

My mics: an AT 4050 and an AT 4033a. MXL V67, V63, 1006 and a pair of
603s for condensers. I have a Sennheiser 609, half a dozen SM57s (one
with the transformer removed and load-adjusting gizmos for the rest,
plus an ATM25 and three AT Pro 25s. An old EV PL95 is somewhere around
here too.

I have Event 20/20s, older Tannoy Reveals and an old Dokoder
reel-to-reel speaker set powered by a Hafler amp to monitor.

I use lint-free Crown Royal bags for storage.

Thanks in advance.

$500? At that price point, maybe a Grace Model 101.

I'd go with it.
