View Full Version : Recording with Zoom H4 and Korg's Pandora PX4D question

Hi,

I recently purchased both the Zoom H4 recorder and the Korg Pandora
PX4D personal effects guitar processor. I would like to use them
together for recording but I am not sure if just connecting the PX4D
output to the H4 input would either work, do nothing, or do damage. The
input to the H4 is a phone jack (and XLR) mono with a switch where you
can set the gain to L/M/H (low, medium, high, I guess). The output from
the PX4D is phone jack stereo that, based on the manual, you can
connect to earphones, PA system or even a guitar amplifier (which the
manual states that only one stereo channel would be available). Is it
safe to connect them? If so, which gain switch setting is the right one
for the H4 in this setup? I am guessing that for recording direct from
a guitar the gain setting should be High and when recording through the
PX4d the setting should be low. Is this correct? Thanks a lot for your
help.

Yes, since the manual says you can connect it to a guitar amplifier,
which would be mono anyway. Connect it the way a guitar amplifier
would be connected

Try it, you won't break it. Low is probably for microphones with quiet
instruments/voices, my guess would be either medium or high.
