Tascam MD-CD1 Thoughts Please...

I'm on the verge of purchasing a Tascam MD-CD1 combined CD and Mini
Disk unit. Just wondering if any of you learned guys out there have
any experience of it and what thoughts you may have. Cheers

I toured with one for a while. It lasted maybe 2 years. First the CD
player broke, wouldn't recognize disks. Then the MD stopped loading
disks entirely. We left it in the dumpster at our gig in Vienna. It is
absolutely not a roadworthy piece. If it's going to stay screwed into
your studio rack, you'll have much better results I'm sure. Our gear
flies as baggage & takes a serious amount of abuse from baggage
handlers.
I wasn't thrilled with the fact that the dislpay can only only show CD
or MD status, but not both simultaneously. It's a consumer machine. As
such Tascam should price it lower than $800. At that price I don't
think it represents good value.
