View Full Version : How to enter radio anti-theft code on 91 Jetta
January 15th 07, 07:18 PM
Hello all, my son bought a 91' Jetta GL with the stock radio in it.
Clean one owner with 84K miles, the problem is they let the battery go
dead and the radio is in lockout. We THINK we have the code to the
radio but have no idea of the process to enter it and get the radio out
of lockout mode.
Can someone explain the process to enter the code? I figured Id see it
out here on the user group but no-one wrote it out, appears everyone
else has a problem getting the code.
Thanks for you help

Your best bet is to head to your nearest VW dealer.

A. You will need to re-enter the radio security code. At some point the
radio must have lost all power and when it came back on, it went into the
security mode.
The coding process to enter the security code is activated by holding the
MODE and SCAN buttons depressed. The security code is entered by using the
first four radio station preset buttons.
The code is in the radio owner's manual. If you do not have the radio owners
manual, take the car to a Volkswagen Dealer and they can get it for you.
