I have a Rockford Punch amplifier and 12" subwoofer that I want to
install in my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The car has the Infinity
6-speaker sound system with the infinity amp. All the speakers are
factory (2 dash tweeters & 4 door speakers).

I've read one website, http://www.wjjeeps.com/audioupgrade.htm#OPTION3
that says I need an OEM-1 interface in order to add the additional amp,
which i can purchase at tune-town.com...
http://www.tune-town.com/Cars/stuff/pac_oem1.htm.

Does anyone have any experience with this system upgrade? This OEM-1
thing is 80 bucks, and I was wondering if there was a more
cost-effective solution since i'm on a tight budget, but already own
the amp/sub from a previous car.

You should be able to add a regular line-level adapter to the rear speaker
lines to convert to RCA cables, then add amp to that
