Hi: I'm looking for a car stereo that will accept an SD card or a USB
flash drive - AND be able to play "secure WMA" songs. Are there any
available presently?

I've looked at the Insignia NS-C5111 but can't determine if it will
play "secure WMA" files.

thanks,
russ

Probably not, but it depends on what you mean exactly by 'secure',
guessing the liscense things, and then...no

One of Sony's new head units has USB support (but not SD) and WMA
support... I don't know what you mean by secure, but i played wma files
on sony head units before with no problem. If you're just looking for
compatibility and not quality, VR3 is pretty good. VR3 is a very cheap
head unit but relatively decent sound quality for the price. A lot of
people never heard of VR3 but you can probably find a VR3 head unit on
ebay or somewhere else on the internet. VR3 supports SD, USB, and has
support for WMA and MP3. But if you really want support for every type
of file, I suggest you use an ipod or zune and just plug it in an aux
port in your head unit. I used to have a VR3, but I got a better Sony
head unit with less device plugin support but better quality
altogether. I didn't really need all those extra things anyways... all
i needed was an aux port and a cd player that reads mp3's and wmas.

By secure I mean WMA files secured with DRM. It means songs that are
licensed. I beleive Microsoft calls it PlaysForSure technology.
Anyway, its not just a regural WMA file.

thanks,
russ
