I am either planning on getting two 12" Alpine Type R's or a 12''
Alpine type X. The R's are both at 500RMS and the type X is 1000RMS.
Obviously the two type R's would have more surface area and also take
up more space, but the Type X has aluminum inforced cone along with
polycarbonite coating ... both are pros in my book. So here is my
questions...
1) Will one choice be louder than the other?
2)Will the two type Rs be deeper or have more kick?
3)Will the two type Rs be less precise in bass pick up and beat?

These are just a few questions i have.. Thanks if you can help.

From what I have been reading is that the type X is over rated, I am
personally running two pairs of Type R 12's with a pair of mtx 1501's pushing
them and I am very happy with them. But to answer your question the two r's
should be louder because of the extra cone area and this will also let you
tune lower and still get a good amount of spl vs a single type X since the X
does not have that much more xmax then a single R.

I don't see any reason why two R's would be less precise in bass pick up and
beat, if anything they should be more sensitive then a single X because of the
extra cone area.
