Don't you just hate it when you try to sell something on ebay and some asshole
wins your auction and then uses a lame excuse like "I'm sorry. My newphew was
on my computer and bid on that item WITHOUT my permission. Could you PLEASE
retract my bid. I am so sorry. Thank you" It just makes me want to ask, why
does your newphew know your ebay password or why do you let him play on your
computer while you are logged in on ebay...... You dumb ****er?

Buyer's remorse, pure and simple. But you knew that. I am totally against
that tactic. The buyer should honour his commitment, ie., buy it and then
re-sell it if he doesn't want it. That is the honourable thing to do.
But Ebay has become a cesspool of late. I got ripped off for $US 237.00 and
then Ebay refused to honour the protection guarantee that they tout so
loudly. They told me to try to recover from my credit card company even
after I proved to them that my credit card company will not reimburse for
internet fraud. Ebay's advertised protection policy clearly covered my
situation (according to their website ) but they denied it anyway. They even
went so far as to change the reference on their website regarding my payment
method AFTER I filed my claim. But I had saved a copy of their webpage to my
hard drive prior to this which verified that my claim should be covered (and
proved that they advertised it as such). They changed the website reference
because they got multiple claims as a result of this one fraudulent seller.
But my proof of this did not matter as the bitch handling my claim denied it
anyway, and then she refused to explain their position. I told them I was
absolutely done with them until the time they start really protecting people
from scam artrists who are proliferating on their auction site. I then did
some online research and it looks like Ebay's credibility (and profits) are
starting to slide. The main reason is that bulk retailers have increasingly
taken over the listings and any REAL savings to buyers are starting to dry
up. As a result of this, and the ever present potential to get ripped off,
buyers are now backing away in droves.

I have a few ebay stories myself. Years ago when I was still new to ebay I was
ripped off for two cells phone ($120) with a credit card charge back via
paycrook (paypal). To keep the stupid trend going 6 months later, being afraid
of using paycrook, I bought an item for $600 and sent a money order and got
ripped off. Ebay told me that I would be covered under their buyer protection
and had me fill out a bunch of forms, I have even fedex the forms over night
to ebay and never heard anything from them again. 18 months ago I have sold a
digital camera on ebay for $300 the buyer paid by paycrook, almost 3 months
later I get a charge back for this item. Paycrook said that the buyer did not
authorize the transaction. I reported it to ebay and filed a claim with
paycrook. They told me that they will fight the charge back and it might take
7X days for me to get my money back. Needless to say once again I have never
heard anything about it again. I did not get any proof of any kind that their
was a charge back, for all I know paycrook scooped the money and lied about
the charge back. I mean hell if you find a camera at your door that you did
not buy, would you not ask questions? With that said does it take 3 months for
someone to find out that there is an extra $300 on their credit card bill.
Some got their money back and my camera with free shipping. I would like
nothing more then to get some revenge, Sure I could rip someone else off to
get a return but I just don't have that in me, for all I know it could be a
poor family man such as our friend Mosfet selling something dear to him to
get some food on the table. The sad thing is that my house is full off crap
that I don't use that would bring in some good cash, but I fear selling things
on ebay.

**** ebay.. A few years ago I had an online store and sold a few
thousand auctions in a 2 year span, and I'd get screwed every time
there was a problem.. Buyers doing a chargeback on me? I get
screwed.. Buyers in a dispute with me? Judgement against me.. Buyers
refusing to pay? I have to re-list.. Sellers who never ship after I
pay? I get screwed..
I was only in about 5 or 6 real disputes in all those auctions, not
counting all the non-paying bidders where I just get screwed a little
bit.. In ALL 5 or 6 I ended up losing the $$ AND the items. So FU
ebay! I might sell little crap here and there, but I'll NEVER push
volume like I used to ever again, out of pure spite if nothing else..

I don't have any truly BAD stories, except one thing I experienced lately
that drove me crazy. I purchased an aftermarket item for my Mustang & paid
for it. The guy sent me the wrong part. I emailed and emailed and emailed
him, got NO response for about 3 weeks. I left him negative feedback. The
next day he left ME negative feedback & suddenly he was ready to talk about
it. Of course, it was nothing more than a tactic to get me to withdraw my
negative feedback, and then he withdrew his. ****er.
