View Full Version : Hardwiring an auxilary mp3 via rca jacks

November 5th 06, 04:52 AM
I have a Pioneer CD deck with RCA jacks in the back. I pulled it out
and was hoping that I could install a RCA Y cable so I could play my
iPod directly through the deck. It didn't work. Are the RCA jacks in
the back of the deck for output only? Is there any way to hardwire a
mp3 jack to this deck? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Evan

they make adapters for pioneer to "hardwire" in. i owouldnt call it
hardwiring because its as simple as plug-n-play. as far as for output
only, i would say no, they are prolly aux inputs.

If you only have one set of RCA jacks in the back of your deck, chances are
those are output jacks for hooking up an amplifier. It would be VERY
strange if they built a deck that had RCA inputs but no outputs for an
outboard amplifier.

I found the answer-Pioneer makes a "plug" that connects to the CD
Changer plug on the back of the deck unit and has a RCA input jacks-you
just need to add a RCA "Y" cable. Thanks to everyone who posted a
response!

What is the model # of your deck.
Some pioneer units have a blue plug-in on the back that is for CD changers
or XM.
There is an adapter that that can plug into that to convert it to an RCA
input.
I believe the model # of the adapter is CDRB10

I would find it weird if there was RCA in's on a deck, period. I'm not
the most experienced person around here, but I've NEVER seen that.. I
have seen a handful of HU's with 1/8" headphone-jack style line-in's,
but that's it..
