Subs Question

Yeah Im new with the whole "stereo" stuff with my car. I just went to
bestbuy the other day and i was asking about the subs that come with
its own box. They cost around $170 and was like thats not bad. Then
the saleperson I had to get an "amp" also if I wanted the subs. And
That cost up to $300. Right Now Im a little low on the cash. If I
bought the sub now, could i instalk into my car and it still work and
just buy the amp on my next pay check or are they both things that are
dependent of each other?

they need each other, the amp gives power to the sub to make it put out
sound. You'll also need wiring, which will likely be another 30
dollars.

Jaxjags51,

Technicly you can run a sub off the HU power but there wouldnt be alot
of power going to it so it wouldnt sound very good at all. I would
recomend just saveing some checks and buying it all at once.There is a
big discussion on this in another post, here is the post title:
DEH-P3800MP can drive a subwoofer off of HU power? its talked alot
about running Subs off HU's

I wouldn't instalk it without an amp--a subwoofer without an amplifier
to drive it is about as useful as a Hummer with
no engine. Besides, everybody knows that chicks don't dig subwoofers
powered by head units--you'll never get a girlfriend that way...ever.

Save your money and do it right the first time--you'll spend less money
in the long run, you'll be much happier with the way it sounds, you'll
save yourself some embarassment, and you might be able to get a date
out of it.
