View Full Version : speakers and amp.
October 13th 06, 02:12 PM
I would like to buy some nice stereo speakers and amplifier that would
be connected to sound card.
I've got about 500 euros for both, could you please recommend me any?
They would be used in a living room for listening audio CD in computer.
I don't need high power, just good quality..

First thing. At this level you should be spending more on the speakers than
the amplifier. Amplifiers are relatively easy to design and will perform
well without excessive expenditure.
Speaker design however is rather more of an 'art' still or actually in fact
rather more of an esoteric science.
I'd suggest you think more like 300 for the amp and 700 for the speakers.
Your money will be wasted if you don't have a decent computer sound card
though. What is it ?

Why don't you try responding to the OP? That would be more helpful.

oki, the sound card at the moment is poor ac97, but I will replace it
with 'Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme' before bying speakers. I don't need
surround, but it would be nice if that is optional.
BTW, I plan on listening to mostly pop music if that matters..
There are so many models and price range is huge. I don't want to
spend too much money on something marginally better or something I
don't need.

Well it can't be Art - Bertie only requires one post for his one-liners.
Not to mention that Art is usually pretty funny. Bertie wound up in my

I asked this bertie character why all he could do is write "fjukkwit"
when there are so many juicy insults floating around. He replied that I
do not understand art.
Speaking of Art, I was glad to see him back. I was wondering what had
happened to him.

No prob. It's a bit like an imprssionist painting you can see only theh
individual brush strokes when it's inspected closely. You must stand
