I just bought a mint Sherwood AX-6275 "12 volt" series 6 (5+1) channel amp
off eBay for 45 bucks.
35 x 5 , 100 x 1 @ 4 Ohms or 50 x 5, 130 x 1 @2 Ohms
Anyone familiar with these amps?

The 5.1 DTS Surround decoder model X-DTS80 that was a partner product at the
time intrigues me. I wonder if that decoder will work with a newer head unit
that plays DVD's? Sherwood seems to only be doing amps and no longer head
units at all.
One of the premier head units that Sherwood made at that time was a AM/FM CD
player model number XCM-7370 that was 5.1 DTS capable.

I am also still looking on eBay for a second good old school Alpine 36xx
Series x-over for the other Alpine system I am working on.
Amps = 2 - 3533's, 1- 3525, 2-3523's along with a 3653 x-over all in mint
condition. Could use another 3525 though.

Usually a lurker.
I have a lot of Alpine and Sony old manuals downloaded if any needs one.

PS I am sure glad that the Flame wars in here are over for a while at least.

You know, I haven't attempted yet to build a "real" 5.1 car theater (I have
kind of a fake car theater right now, see my site at:
http://www428.pair.com/mosfet/mtx.html ).
There are two major reasons. First, I really don't anticipate it would ever
get used (we don't take road trips or anything like that). Second, I just
can't find a logical place in my car to put a center-channel speaker. I
have a few ideas, like behind the dash, but an enclosure would have to be
built and when I think about all the work involved my head hurts.

I LOVE my home theater and DTS is GREAT. But I have no real advice to give
for the car.

Take care,
