View Full Version : How do I?
Captain Howdy

How do I hook up an i-pod to my AC-Delco radio?
Is it better to over power or under power?
What is the short form for root mean square?
Will my amp run hotter if mounted upside down?
Does Fram make good sound filters?
Does capacitors really work?
Why do car alarms beep?

You forgot the MOST important one:
Does it make any difference if I mount my subs backwards?

"How do I hook up an i-pod to my AC-Delco radio?"
Try an FM modulator adapter.
"Is it better to over power or under power?"
Over power, with exceptions.
"What is the short form for root mean square?"
Not really sure what you mean by short form.
"Will my amp run hotter if mounted upside down?"
Maybe.
"Does Fram make good sound filters?"
Do you mean good, sound filters or good sound filters? Huh?
"Does capacitors really work?"
Yes, they really does work.
"Why do car alarms beep?"
So you can hear them.
"Should I start taking Zyprexa?"
Yes. Absolutely.

First, take your iPod apart and remove the HD inside, then stick that into
your radio...... (BTW, of course your iPod won't work after this, but it
WILL be "hooked up" to your AC-Delco radio).

A compromise is ALWAYS best. Over-power your left channel and under power
your right channel.

I have no idea. But what the hell does the acronym RMS stand for (I see it
ALL the time)?

The question really is will a car alarm beep in the woods if there's no one
around to hear it.

I just drove out to the woods and only the alarm's lcd remote beeped, with
that done and tested I did spend the rest of the afternoon running around the
woods naked. I know this has nothing to do with car audio but I had to share.
I knew that you all were just waiting for another i-pod question.LOL
After searching the net I have found a few interesting facts. K&N oil filled
filters are far better then paper filters at filtering low frequencies. K&N
also sells a tilt mount to adjust your roll off slope.

Not if you reverse the phase of the subs, this is most important with mids and
highs, so that your music does not sound like it's playing backwards.

I guess it's my way of reminding you that I haven't forgotten what a
complete asshole you were to Nick. It set a new low for RAC in all the
years I've been here. Then for you to come back after a brief hiatus and
start posting like nothing's happened without any apology whatsover is
absolutely insulting. I for one would like an explanation of your actions
and some sort of assurance that it won't happen again. I belive you can be
a very valuable member to this group when you want to be, but for whatever
reason you completely and utterly "snap" every once in a while and it's not
funny...it's scary. Need I remind everyone to what depths you stooped in
your attempt to publicly humiliate Nick? Who's next? And what's the limit
to your little temper tantrums?
So whether you recognize my request or not, I'm saying something that I feel
is important to say. If you're ready to be nice, then welcome back. If
not, then maybe you should leave. Yes, I'm treating you like a child,
because that's how you acted. I think that "rational conduct" is pretty
much a universally accepted way of acting...and evidently you have a VERY
different opinion of this than the normal, prudent person. Your response to
my question, "I guess that I am done until my behavior exceeds your opinion
of what rational conduct should be" is evidence that you are reserving the
right to treat anyone any way you feel like, regardless of the other
person's feelings AND is contrary to most peoples' opinions of "rational
conduct". This egocentric attitude absolutely disgusts me and if I could do
anything about it in terms of banning you from RAC until you can act like a
civil person, then I would.
So if my question bothers you, Captain, just think how much your conduct a
few weeks ago bothered all of us.

First off all, what makes you think that you have the right to ask anyone to
leave? I've been here and been posting here just as long if not longer then
you two under the same user name. Who do you think you are? As for what
happened between Mosfet and myself, was between Mosfet and myself and had
nothing to do with you other then the fact that you seem to enjoy sticking
your nose where it does not belong. There was nothing directed at you and no
one forced you to read any of the posts that were related to this issue. You
have made a choice and didn't like what you seen, fine deal with it. I'm not
the only one that was fueling that fire to keep thing going. The only reason
there was a brief hiatus was to put an end to what was going on, because every
time that I have went on here there would be a new Howdy post of some kind and
things would just go on back and forth. We BOTH took things a little too far
and I don't feel that I owe Mosfet an apology, by the same token I don't feel
that he owes me one either. Mosfet can accept or reject what happened without
your help. He knows how to ignore posts.
Funny thing is Tony that you were the only one that couldn't refrain from
minding their own business. I'm not sure if this is a personality flaw or sign
of weakness, but I'll say this, it really takes a special kind of a person to
try to team up on someone especially when it's not their place to do so.
That's absolutely insulting. Either way I couldn't careless about being in
your good graces or anyone else for that matter. It seems that your ego is
getting the best of you. In this matter you have no right to request anything,
it none of your business. You're out of bounds.

Minding their own business? Did you Email me all that stuff and then I
forwarded it to Tony so he could see it? Let me think...... Hmmmmm........
NO!!!!!!!
You posted all your disgusting (and I mean REALLY disgusting) insults on a
PUBLIC FORUM FOR ALL TO SEE. Maybe you don't understand the concept of a
newsgroup (although you apparently have been around here longer than the
both of us, you say), but what you post here is for PUBLIC CONSUMPTION. If
you want to say something to JUST ME (as you apparently THOUGHT you were
doing based on your reply to Tony), then you send an Email. That's how it
works, Howdy.
I actually would have agreed with everything you said, HAD YOU EMAILED YOUR
FILTH DIRECTLY TO ME (God knows, you had my Email address, YOU TRIED TO SELL
MY CAR, and they Emailed me thanking them for using their
online-car-sales-service, otherwise I would not have known).
But people around here are sick and tired of all the bickering that goes on
AND FOR THAT I AM SORRY FOR THIS NON-CAR-AUDIO RELATED POST (I really am).
I know it seems I am often in the middle of these things and I don't like it
ONE BIT! But I HAD to make this point.

For someone who claims to understand the concept of a
newsgroup, you posted your crap as I did mine in the same fashion. You're
always sorry, you really are, but you keep posting your personal laundry for
PUBLIC CONSUMPTION in here. You seem to be aware of the fact that people
around here are sick and tired of all the bickering and yet you just don't
stop. When I left for a while to put an end to things, you start with someone
else as if there was nothing learned. Then your sidekick Tony comes in and
relights **** that has stopped all in the name of "people around here are sick
and tired of all the bickering". You both need to stop for a while and let
commonsense catch up with you both, Then you both might understand that you're
not doing anyone any favors by doing just the opposite of what you both
preach.

Bickering? You think I was "relighting" all this in the name of bickering?
Do you have amnesia, Howdy?
I'm talking about the posting of MOSFET's personal information, the fake For
Sale ad you made of his car, blocking his messages so he couldn't read his
own posts, the obscene comments you made about his wife, etc. Forget about
those? Yes...THIS is what I'm talking about. Yes, you and MOSFET were both
bickering. Big deal. It was YOUR response to that bickering that I'm
talking about. Your bullying. Your lack of morality. Your audacity and
insolence.
The fact that you conveniently forget your actions and sum up your behavior
to "bickering" is typical of you and EXACTLY why I brought it up again. And
for you to consider ME somehow at or even near your level of immaturity just
for bringing all this up again is absurd.
You may have been posting longer than both of us under the same Captain
Howdy name. WHO CARES? What does this have to do with anything?
You're just a bully, Howdy. Pure and simple. Worse than that...you're an
Internet bully. That makes you the lowest of cowards and for that I feel
sorry for you.
I was hoping to get somewhere with you, but I was very wrong. Keep acting
the way you've been acting, Howdy and eventually it will come back to haunt
you, one way or another. You must be a real unhappy person, that's all I
can say.
