View Full Version : Component Speakers
September 14th 06, 12:14 AM
I have a 2005 Scion XB with one 12" Rockford Fosgate P2 in the back. I
have a P3002 running it but I need to know what I need for speakers.
I like the diamond audio d6 6 1/2 and 5 1/4. I don't know what amp to
run. Do I need a 2,4,5, or 6 channel amp?
Thanks

are you going to be replacing just the front speakers or all four? that
would be a deciding factor. Simply put, you need one channel per
speaker. (four speakers would need a 4 channel amp, and two would need
a 2 channel.)
If you are going to get diamond d6's keep in mind you should be looking
for an amp with 75 to 100 watts per channel.

It has 6 speakers in it but I will be replacing the 2 6 1/2, the 2 5/14
and the 2 tweets in it plus adding an extra set of tweets because the
componets come with it. Is there such a thing as an 8 channel?

when you are dealing with component speakers, each woofer is connected
to the tweeter through a crossover, and then to the amp. you have 8
drivers, but they are paired up so you only need four channels.
is your Xb an auto or a 5speed?

It is a 5 speed.
Thanks for the input.
Do you guys have any thoughts on the Pioneer Avic-z1?

my wife has an 06 Xb auto... the damn thing can't get out of it's own
way.
AVIC-Z1? You're going to double the value of your car by the time
you're done!
I can't say anything bad about that deck. Pioneer is one of my favorite
deck manufacturers. However, I would wait a little bit to buy one, as
they will be releasing a revised version of the software that is a
little more user friendly. (damn Microsoft...)

The P850.4 is a perfect match for your D6's
