I bet the sound is played at maximum volume.

There will be a way to disable it soon enough, perhaps by replacing the
sound file with one thats just silence.
The question is whether Windows will consider itself cracked if
such an important system file is altered, and either 'fix' it or
invalidate the WGA licence.
