Does anyone have any opinions on the Mirage Omnisats? Someone recommended
them to me. I have a fairly small room and I want something that can be
mounted on the wall. I also like a spacious sound, where the speakers
disappear. I am not concerned about pinpoint imaging necessarily.
How loud can they get? I am using them in my small bedroom, which is only
8'x15'. But I'm wondering if they will work in a larger room, 10'x20' wit
20' ceilings. I am getting a sub too of course, I was recommended a Dayton
100 W sub.
I am using this for music listening mainly, movies are fairly far down in my
list of priorities.
thanks,
MB

They can get astonishingly loud.
They do not suffer from the strained sound of small speakers when pushed
hard.
The sound is very spacious. However, with all that reflected sound, there is
an inevitable negative impact on ultimate resolution.
They are more capable of big sound than any other small speaker I've heard.
However, given the obvious plethora of space, why?
Good conventional speakers of reasonable size are better.

Thanks for your feedback. Well, in my room I don't have a plethora of space
since it is only 8'x15'. Or maybe 8'x12', I forget -- it's small, no room
for anything on the floor.
And a 10'x20' room is not very big -- it just seems pretty big because the
ceilings are 20 feet and there is a lot of adjoining space. There is
actually no room for any speakers on the floor, because of an awkwardly
placed staircase and doorway. I would have to put any floorstanding
speakers basically in the doorway. : )
I think I will like the spacious sound, even if it has less "resolution".
What other speakers will give a spacious sound that can be mounted on the
wall? I'm looking to spend around $500 pair, like the Omnisat's are. It
seems like they are a fine choice for me, but I'm wondering if other people
have opinions.
thanks,
MB

If you like a spacious sound, or speakers requiring a minimum of floor space,
you should check out several reasonably priced models from Magnepan. These
planar speakers are noted, among other things, for their ability to produce
spacious, "realistic" sound. Since they are planars, they are only 1" or 2" in
thickness and therefore occupy a relatively small amount of floor space.
Magnepan has recently come out with a few new models, relatively low priced,
that can be mounted directly to the wall. It is my understanding that they are
available on a factory direct basis. Learn more at
