I just saw Velcro brand 8 inch tie wraps at Home Depot!
50 wraps for $4.98.
Bar code # 75967-90924
I sometimes use a self-taping screw to attach them to panels.
These are the same ties as one of the major auto parts stores sometimes
had, but it's a lot easier to find at HD in the Velcro rack.

They must have raised the price. They used to be $4.49. They come in
pretty handy.

3M has rolls of a cool double sided velcro type strips. Like fifty feet
divided into 6 inch perforated strips. Cost about $10. Got it at
microcenter.

If those are the same ones that I saw at Microcenter, they're just
straight strips with no easy way to attach them to the cable that you
use them with. The nice thing about the Home Depot ones is that they
can be attached to the cable so they are always there when you're ready
to coil it. It also helps that they're cheaper.

In my location recording days I used to use the releasable zip ties, 6" was
perfect for most cables. At $5 per pack of 100, who cares if you loose a
$0.05 zip tie?!?

Just give the end of them one wrap around the cable and then back over
itself. this will secure it to the cable.
