View Full Version : The Culture Of Synthesizers In Music

August 23rd 06, 08:21 PM
I'm tired of the culture of syntehsizers. I'm even bored of the live
DJs who mix fresh techno. All these nerds are doing is showing us this
glamour culture within the music. With their emo haircuts and their
synthesized screamo lyrics. It is a beauty pagent. I want to hear
fresh funky music, and punk rock. Stuff that people can cover. I
loved Dave Chappelles Block Party, and they are even begining to play
Punk Rock on 'Fuse'.

I'll tell you how they are making this synthesized music. They just
lay down the lyrics, seperately from the music. Then the band comes
out and plays their guitar while the musicians lip sync. But how do
they make those sounds with their voices. They just keep re-recording
takes of them singing that's how. And then they mix various recordings
together of them singing the same song, and play with blend filters,
like you would in photoshop.

That's what the death metal bands do you know. They just wear masks
and play speed metal on guitars, while all of their recorded screaming
hits the audience. But where can you get a good mixer that can blend
sounds together in layers, and cut and slice tracks? About all you can
do with what they are releasing in the stores is play with the tempo.
But I don't even like death metal. And I hate American Idol, and the
techno back up that the vocalists are working with. I'm sure the
winner of every american idol contest is lip syncing to begin with.

We need a counter culture in our sosciety, and we can't get one with
the mass media. Aside from the internet. Hackers are the ones really
creating the revoltion. Grass roots just isn't working outside of
urban areas.

Yawn. Then don't buy it or listen to it.

If you want something revolutionary, try Therion.
Of course, orchestral choirs and opera singers might be a bit beyond the
price range of the average DM band.

And since this is being posted to alt.magick the guy behind Therion is a
member of Dragon Rouge IIRC

Didn't someone say once that " giving synthesizers to the English was

Perhaps, but if that is a reference to Therion then I should point out
that the latter is Scandinavian

Mr. Bob Dylan, for a good blender you should try KitchenAid, I think
they come with the filters built in. The "Cut and Slice" attachment,
though, is sold separately. As far as the internets are concerned, you
should talk to your buddy Ted Stevens.

Better than those nice boys with blow dried hair that have passed for
Metal in the US for the past decade or two. And as far as DM is
concerned, Therion is the real thing from a magickal POV (if you bother
to check some of the lyrics).

Yeah, OK. Just not enamoured of the faux-artsy thing.

Then lucky for you no such critters exist.

"Techno" is a label often applied to music that isn't techno anyway,
such as 90% of all electronic dance music with a beat.

Your own personal taste doesn't have any relevance to whether
synthersizer-music is good or not. BTW: emo is mostly guitar music, so
what the hell are you talking about?

I don't see how any of this has anything to do with synthesizers,
really.

See, if yo don't like death metal you don't have to listen to it. I
don't so I listen to something else. You could take my example. And I
still fail to see what this has to do with synthesizers.

I never heard any techno on American Idol. But even if there was: so
what? You actually can do vocal performance on techno, even if that
style is mostly instrumental.

And for that revolution a wide array of instruments can be used...
including synthesizers.
