View Full Version : Bad Reviews For PODxt's Univibe

I am thinking about getting a PODxt because of the money it will save
me. I have two good tube amps - Marshall and Fender - so I'm close to
getting the setup I really want - Wah (which I have), Tube Screamer,
Uni-vibe - but the price of the Uni-Vibe with pedal and Tube Screamer
is more than a PODxt and I get more choices with the POD.
But I see a lot of bad reviews of the POD Uni-vibe on google and
harmony central. If I go ahead and take the POD leap and don't like
their Uni-vibe, can I still run my real Wah pedal and a real Uni-vibe
WITH the POD?
Sorry if these are stupid or old questions. I researched as much as I
could so far.

You can use the Pod as an amp and run all your effects and the like
just as you would with a regular setup.

Just understand that getting that sound out of the Pod is going to be
much the same as with a real amp. It will take time to figure out the
stuff and tweaking will ensue over a period of time -- just as with
your "real" amps.

Too often people slag Pods as useless because they don't understand how
to use the tool. A with any new amp or device, there is a learning
curve, time needed to acquire an understanding of how to make it sound
like you want. And it will if you are patient and understand the rules,
same as with any non-modelled device.

I use Pods. I also have Hiwatts and Marshalls. People cannot tell the
difference, whether I'm using a Pod or a real amp. Well, unless they're
gear junkies and looking for the stack on stage that isn't there. ;)

I have a POD XT Pro in my rack gathering dust. It does some things that I
need occasionally by virtue of the digital I/O routing capabilities and the
ability to simultaneously record a clean track is nice sometimes but I just
ordered a Yamaha Magicstomp from MF (they are blowing them out for $79.00).
This puts my POD to shame IMO. You can use it as a front end for another
amp, patch it into the FX loop of an amp or into an aux or insert of a
mixer. It's just easy and sounds very good for a modelling box.
