I need some support and thought I might find it here. Please respond if
you have experience dealing with this issue.

I do alot of dialogue recording with the Alesis Masterlink in HD mode.
Dialogue recording is a bit different than with music because I am
dropping track ID's on the fly (every 5 min) and not stopping the
transport to get my ID's correct. Lately, I have accidentally hit the
"New Track" button twice in a second while in record mode. When it
comes time to render the CD I get a message "Track xxx Too Short (((5
Sec)))".

After reading through the manual I cant seem to be able to adjust track
ID's to allow me to keep the short audio track...in order to burn the
CD I must delete the track...also loosing the audio associated with it.
I tried messing around with the "track start" and "track end" options
in "Unprotected" mode but was not able to move either the track start
and end times to accomodate the finicky machines request. I've had to
conceede to the machine and delete my audio snippet to create the CD.
Thus destroying the recording.

Please explain how I can force the machine to allow me to assimilate
short ID's after the fact into my playlists in a legal fashion.

Thanks!
Dusk Bennett

I don't think it's legal to have a track that short (redbook standards)

Redbook won't allow tracks shorter than 4 seconds (5? 8? Not really
sure). What you can do is join the tracks together where you "double-
punched".

Get in the edit mode by pressing the "Playlist Edit button, then use the
skip forward button to navigate to the track *after* the really short
track (Track 7 for this example). While holding down the Playlist Edit
button, press the Delete Track button. The display will ask Join Song07
to Song06? Y/N. Press the Up/Yes button, and the tracks will be joined,
no loss of audio, no short track!!
