IOW we've got another naive one who thinks that you can tell who sent you
email, by looking at headers.

Why did you say this?
You missed an opportunity to deflect suspicion away from yourself.

Arny never misses an opportunity for gratuitous nastiness.
He has a malignant personality.

Arnold's not too bright about this computer stuff, you know.

It's the truth!

You're nuts. I don't play those kind of childish games.

The whole lot of you are nuts - with paranoid delusions about people out to
get you. Most likely the guilty party is some virus run amuck in some
unknown third or fourth party's machine.

OK, I get it now, Dormer. You drew your conclusions from the voices in your
head. Thanks for sharing and hope you get out of detox soon!

No, it's common courtesy to inform someone if their computer is
sending out virused messages because often times they don't even know
it and so they don't know that they have a virus on their machine.

Ahhhh, I see your problem with seeing this; the phrase "common
courtesy" is involved.

Yes, via private email not public humiliation.

However, in the current world situation, it is virtually a certainty that
the apparent source of a virus or spam email is not the actual source.

>Yes, via private email not public humiliation.

It's not humiliation to post such a message. After all, the last thing
that anyone should do really is to send an email with your address on
it to a possibly virused computer. While nothing might happen, why
tempt fate?

You seem to be the only who's interpreting this as humilation.
Everyone else realizes that he was doing a public service, not only
for Paul, but to others that might have gotten virused mail from
Paul's computer. This is almost SOP these days - when you get a
virused email from someone active on a mailing list or group, you
normally notify the whole group, for the above reasons.

>However, in the current world situation, it is virtually a certainty that

That is certainly a big possibility. But why take chances?

In any case, you should take a chill pill, because it's obvious that
Paul wasn't trying to humiliate the other Paul.

Artist Signal,

Thanks for letting me know. I quit Earthlink
nearly a year ago, though, and my account
there hasn't been active since that time (to
my knowledge) so a hacker must be glom-
ming onto an old post of mine, or the like.
I appreciate your informing me, though --
do me a fave: send a few messages to
that email address and see if you get any
responses (I don't), would you? If you do,
maybe I can contact Earthlink and see to it
that the account is really dead.
