View Full Version : TV in car again question
Is there a TV with built in tuner for car use that does
NOT need to be permanently mounted in the vehicle but
can be moved form vehicle to vehicle?
This would be for use in a car while on driving
vacation but also to be used in very small apartment

Yes, use a regular home TV and then buy a 12 volt DC to AC converter. To
run a small TV, you would only need about 200 watts and a unit like that
would cost about $30 (or less) at Wal-Mart. It would plug right into your
cigarette lighter. That's the way I'd go.

BETTER STILL!
Here's a 9" portable, dirt cheap, portable color set that works on both 12
volt DC (car voltage) or AC.

The thing is.... tube TVs are bulky and heavy
That's why I desire an LCD based system

Ah yes, LCD. They are much easier to manage than tube TV's. Well, Vivek's
Ebay link had a number of LCD monitors that include tuners and are designed
to be portable. Again, ANY voltage issue can be easily solved with an
adaptor (AC to DC or DC to AC). LCD's use even less power than tube TV's so
a small $30 DC to AC adaptor for instance should power even a 24" LCD.

Vivek is just a person who reads and reply to posts in rec.audio group and
ebay is just a place to start the search on anything with good prices.
