Ever since the new system was installed my rear view mirror was rattling like
an ass to the point that it would rattle out of adjustment, But since it's a
Ford I need a special tool to remove it and this made my removal of the mirror
slow due to being too lazy to buy the tool. Anyways, I went to wash the car
today and as I'm washing the windshield I seen this. (link below) I'm not sure
if this happened because the stereo was rattling the mirror or if it's just a
fluke. Has everyone else had something like this happen?

Is this your Crown Vic? My guess is that it's been this way for awhile and
you haven't noticed. The mirrors on all of our Crown Vics come off ALL the
time and we're all too lazy to spend any time at all to carefully put them
back on. I'm sure it broke when someone was trying to force it back on.

Yup it's my Vic, This had to happen sometime in the last 3 days. It had to
heppen fron the sun or the rattling because no one had been in my car in the
past week.

Oops. I just re-read what I wrote earlier. What I meant to say was that I
was suggesting it broke when the previous owner (police officers) forced it
back on.

I've seen about a dozen or so Crown Vics come and go over the course of my
career, and I spend several hours a day, every day, driving one. All of the
mirrors in all of the cars always fall off. What happens is that most cops
jam that sucker back on there out of haste or frustration (a lot of things
go wrong with those cars a lot of the time). I'd say about half of them end
up with cracked windshields as shown in your picture. I was just wondering
how many times during the life of your car that mirror fell off and was
"hammered" back on. Maybe this weakened it, and like you said, either the
heat or the vibration was the straw that broke the camel's back.

into You might of seen a pic of it . The one you are thinking of is the white
PI that I bough on Ebay (my wife is driving that one).
