Good Work!! I love that stealthy sub-box and that REALLY COOL volt-meter
(at least I think it's a volt meter) in the ash-tray space.

But, frankly, it left me curious. You don't list the gear you use. What
kind of sub was that?

If you want, check out mine at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2359697

Nice Job!!!

So ... that is one huge enclosure for one sub. And from the pics it looks
like it fires up through the rear parcel shelf. Brings back memories. I did
a brand new '82 Honda Accord like that and it was probably the most musical
sounding sub I've ever done. And if you can believe it, it consisted of a
single 6x9 Alphasonik sub driver mounted in about a 1 cubic foot box mounted
under the rear parcel shelf.

Your work looks darn good. The temp gauge is a nice touch. How does it sound
?

Yes! Curious minds want to know.

Looks good, Lull. I recognized that Radio Shack fan a mile away!!

Thanks everyone!!! I'm glad you like it!

For the inquiring minds out there the sub is a JBL GTO1004D (250 Watt
RMS Dual 4 ohm voice coil).

The box volume (minus driver and ports) is just under 2 1/4 Cubic Feet
- Tuned to 26 Hz.

Also the display in the ashtray is, in fact, a temperature gauge. Far
left of the gauge is 0 degrees (Celsius) and the far right is 100
degrees (again, Celsius). The display is activated by flipping the
large toggle switch right next to it - this starts the flow between the
display and the three chips to gather the temp, light the backlight,
and move the LCD needle (17 segment). The smaller toggle next to that
is piggy-backed off of the bigger switch, so that if you are reading
the temperature and see that it's too high (about to go into protect),
you can turn on the fan to cool the amp...

Other components, ummm - as you can see it's a Panasonic deck (mp3 disc
ready), with an input that I constantly plug my mp3 player into (the
cord itself comes out underneath the ashtray, behind the cupholders).
Other than that, I simply have 4 Pioneer 6.5's being pumped directly
off of the 25-watt-rms-per-channel deck. Oh, and of coarse the amp is
a JBL 150.1 (that seems to be underrated, since it blew my last sub
that was supposed to be able to handle more than 150 watts rms).

Any other questions?

Oh, and a funny story for you about how it sounds...

I was adjusting the levels on the amp once everything was wired up,
like must be done every time you do an install. I would make an
adjustment, sit back and listen, adjust a little more, change the song,
etc... When I got it where I wanted it I got out of the back seat and
stood next to the car, in the garage, just listening to it bump to a
nice deep techno song. Then I heard a rattle. I thought, "Damnit! I
don't wanna RATTLE down the f*ckin road after all this work! Where is
that coming from, I'll see if I can tighten it down." I started
looking around, and listening. Every time this low note dropped I kept
hearing the rattle, but for the life of me I couldn't pinpoint where it
was coming from. Then I realized... It wasn't coming from the car. I
looked up to see the roof of the garage rattling and shaking on every
deep bass hit. That was the most satisfying moment of the entire
process.

(Disclaimer: when I shut the car door, the roof stopped rattling. So
nobody gets to bitch about noise pollution }:-) until I drive my car
around with the windows down...)

Of coarse, you're right. But then I wouldn't have had the experience
of setting up my own design... Alright, that's a lame excuse. The
truth of the matter is that my way, while more complicated and time
consuming, gets me a cool display and was cheaper than that setup. The
display was the most expensive piece at about $40, all the chips were
under a dollar, the switches were around $4, and I already had most of
the other materials...

That is TOO COOL!!!!! I was wondering what those switches did, thanks for
the explanation. You should CERTAINLY have that information (verbatum
perhaps) on your page. It truly makes your system unique, which is what I
love most about this sport (no two systems are the same).

No, it does fork, the problem is that the forks reconvene...It makes so
many loops it's just a giant net tapping the family in its
stupidity...Keeps the farm animals fenced in as well.
