Yes, and none of them have ever had anything to with Motley Crue.

Most of his biggest hits were barely with a band anyway - just him,
Steve Stevens, and a sequencer. Stevens hated it.

From about 10 years ago, I would agree with you.
Today, not so sure.
Very hard to decide if some bands now called heavy metal are really,
because they were arround long before the phrase was coined. And some
supposedly punk bands, may look the part, apart from the grey hair now.

1 Van Halen
2 Foo Fighters
3 Aerosmith
4 Smashing pumpkins
5 The Offspring

Cool. didn't realise you meant it as your personal fave list, but
thought you were listing it as a global all time top five.
Scorpions had some nice variety.
I suppose mine would have to include at least one Zep/Purple/Sabbath
song if it was an all time elite list.

well also my list is the best proformers too...
i'm not really concidering most popular or most hits.......also not
concidering biggest pr budget..advertised the most i mean.
Since alot of the biggest sellers are do to best advertising..bon jovi
comes to mind...lol
I seen hundreds if not thousands of bon jovi ads when he was going at
first...
he never impressed me all that much..
bruce Springsteen uugghh.. i'm feeling sick..had big ads behind his
fame.
I dont even think bruce talks all that well.lol
The record labels know if they advertise some singer is great all the
time. people will buy it just to be with the all the other fans.
Same with going to the movies...

He sounds to like he's always ready to throw up.

Not my type of music, and definately not much guitar work there.

Best "Heavy Metal" to listen to at high volume?
In other words music that seems to have, IMO, much better than average
production quailty?
Number one, without question would be the German band Grave Digger.
Especially around the year 1996. Super solid low-end and great guitar
sound.
Two might be Testament circa 1999. Wow! What a sound.
Some bands that should sound good but don't ("remasterd" or not): JP,
Maiden, Motorhead and especially Savatage! :(
One band that generally sounds ****e with one exceptional exception
would be Mercyful Fate; their sound is crapola, especially of late but
whatever happened on 'Don't Break The Oath' was/is nothing short of a
miracle of recording/producing/engineering.
