the second or third Saturday of odd numbered months. There is a door charge

LECTURE: Bern Muller on the latest developments in PTF. The goal of PTF is
nothing less than a full set of objective measurements of an audio system
that correlate with perceived performance. Rather than attempting to map
conventional measurements to perception, PTF uses problem-specific stimuli,
reception and analysis techniques. SMWTMS has seen the hardware and
software before in its "Spectral Uniformity," "Max SPL," and "Max Bass SPL"
measurements used in our yearly autosound contest. Bern will review and then
demonstrate new work on the "Spatial Rendition" module. This module is
attacking measurement of "Soundstage" (front-back, width and symmetry),
"Images" (localization horizontally and in depth) and "Ambience"
(envelopment, size of space and diffuseness).
