Hi all,

I'm looking for the installation manual for a 220-Max viper alarm
system, it's for motorcycles and ATVs, can anyone help?

I've thought of posting here as I saw many viper posts in this group, if
not I would not ask here... Don't want to pollute the newsgroup.

People who can help can also reply to my email,

Thanks for your time...

Marc

Are You sure that is the correct model?
I looked on DEI's web page and tech support page and could find no reference
to that model #

I believe that is very similar to the Viper 200. It's a water proof alarm
made for rec vehicles as you mentioned.

Look on www.directed.com. There are installation instructions for the 200.

Thanks, but I already have the 200 installation manual, it is similar but not
the same. Most likely the 220Max followed after the 200.

The 200 has built in shock sensor, the 220 has none, but it can be added later
as a separate module, which is part of why the 200 manual will not do.
It is mostly popular here in Canada, maybe that's why the US website doesnt
mention it. But I have to admit, DEI is not interrested in giving out manuals
to anyone...

So, that being said , that manual has got to exist, just have to find someone
that knows where to get it.

That's because DEI sucks ass. You'll notice that most shops wont give you the
install manual on a brand new DEI alarm install.

That would be a matter of opinion. I happen to think that DEI Alarms are a
good quality product. As far as your 'Shops' not giving you a manual, I
think that is a shop thing and YOUR issue, did you ask for the manual? Most
shops when they install the product assume that the individual could care
less about the manual and more about the product and just toss it. If you
asked them for it, they would be more then happy to supply you with it.

I do however think that the Alpine Sirens are better then the DEI ones, but
again matter of opinion....

You might try the Directed.ca Canadian site. They've got the owners
manual for the 220MAX, but I didn't immediately see an install manual.
However, if you either email or call their support center, they should
be able to hook you up.

I also think DEI wants to protect themselves...

Some (if not all) of their products carry a lifetime warranty if installed by a
certified DEI tech. So they may want to protect themselves from having people
try to screw with the alarm system. Plus of course, the shops might try to
protect their jobs by telling you that certain things HAVE to be done by them.
I tried reaching a few places around here that sell and install the alarms,
they all answered the same thing, we don't give that manual to customers, but
we'll gladly work on it for a fee... Which is not what I really want.

What are your specific questions? Maybe someone can answer them here?

Oh not much, but i want to have the manual for future reference... I like to
be able to do things myself, and with things like alarms, without the book,
you're dead in the water...
