Need of Hi-Lo converters.

OK I am trying to understand why I would need a set of Hi-Lo converters
on my door speakers since they are not going through an amp. All that
is changing is the speakers.
Anybody have input on this?

If you are not going to be amping them, and just powered by the head
unit, you do not need an HLC.

Yeah, is there more to this story? I'm not even sure what exactly the
problem is.

Seriously you really are not missing anything.

Here is what I am doing. I am adding a JL Audio Stealth box with amp
and at the same time I am adding a new set of door speakers that will
not be on any amp they will be straight off the head unit.The amp has
high level inputs so even it doesn't need a converter. I think they are
trying to pad the install charge by saying I need these.

Given that information, the only scenario I can think of is that they
want to put a LOC (Line Output Converter or Hi-Low Converter) on the
rears to feed RCA's to the sub amp. Many people feel that the
aftermarket LOC's are of better quality and more adjustable than the
ones in the amps, should they have them built-in.
