View Full Version : Wiring PA speakers to a car stereo
I have a PA system that runs off the battery of my car. The amplifier
has a mic input and noise presets that then run to the PA speaker which
is 15w. Does anyone know how I would go about making a toggle switch
that would enable me to run my stereo speaker line to the PA speaker
(without having to use the PA amp). Would a jumper line with an on/off
toggle work fine? Also, would I need to upgrade the PA speaker because
the stereo amp is 40w and the PA speaker is only 15w?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Use a DPDT and wire the two centers to the speaker (one channel only), the
top to the amp, and the bottom to the pa amp. I guess
your going to listen to music on the PA, or going to use
Mr. Microphone on the PA through the radio. Or just cause a ruccous
through the neighborhood. What are you doing?
Just turn the volume down on the PA.
I used to use a 3PDT back in the day to also switch power to my mini 8
track or radio.

I plan on being able to play music through the PA when I'm camping or
barbecuing so I don't have to use the car speakers.

That should be no problem. When you say PA that tells me it
usually sounds like talking through a pipe. They do have better grade PA's, and you DON'T
have to use a PA speaker at all. Have a jack installed and use a nice
little efficient speaker, the kind you get at garage sales.
I still have my boom box I made long ago. I orginally planned on taking it
on vacation through airlines. Back in the early 80's everyone at the pool was
playing their own little radios, and I wanted volume and bass. That was before
boom boxes really caught on. My boom box
Kraco AM/FM cassette
Kraco power booster
12 gel cell 10 AHR
4 -4 inch horn loaded main speakers.
2 piezo tweeters
2 Pioneer tweeter horns.
This thing weighs too much 40-50 Lbs.
I really wanted to upgrade the headuni to cd, then MP3, then satellite, then........
