Hi all,
The Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ has been updated. The current
version is 5.4, dated March 26, 2006 and can be found on
www.batteryfaq.org. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions, tips,
manufacturer's information, references and hyperlinks are contained on
this free, consumer oriented Web site about car, motorcycle, power
sports, truck, boat, marine, recreational vehicle, solar, and other
starting and deep cycle applications.
The most popular sections in February were:
Battery Manufacturers and Brand Names List
FAQ Section 9 HOW DO I CHARGE (OR EQUALIZE) MY BATTERY?

Now that's one hell of a battery FAQ page that you have there Bill. It got my
lazy ass reading. Now I feel like a sucker, I never questioned the myth of
"storing a battery on a concrete floor will discharge them" I just always
bought into it.

I was always fed that one too... by my dad, grandfather, etc. Not just
concrete either - I was once informed that even on a wooden shop floor,
a battery would discharge... so it was placed on a piece of cardboard.
Fortunately, having something of a clue about things electrical, I never
actually believed any of it.

I heard and wondered about it. I think its from a valid point. Do
not store them near dampness, cause it may cause excessive
drain if the top of the battery is dirty. Concrete floors
are always damp. Also caused damage with old batteries, and probably new,
with a hard thump as the battery hits the concrete.
