View Full Version : Can I hook up an external audio source via IPBus?

I have a Pioneer head unit that does not have an external audio jack that I
can hook up an outside audio source to (i.e., media player, DVD player,
etc.).
Is there an IPBus product that will allow me to connect a standard mini-
jack plug into it and the device will show up on the IPBus as an external
source?
I currently have two IPBus products connected (an Pioneer iPod adapter and
a Pioneer Sirius receiver). Is there a limitation on the number of IPBus
devices?
I have a car mounted PC I want to play through my head unit but don't want
the loss of quality an FM transmitter incurs.
Thanks,
Scott

Yes you can, some time back I googled on IP pinout. You can RCA inputs to
IPbus, but I'm not sure if this works in daisy chaining with other IPbus.

Just a correction RB10 is to be used if this is the only thing connected to
the IP bus, since there are other IPbus devices also, use CD-RB20. Ignore my
other reply about the soldering an pinout diagram...
But as I.Care wrote google is your friend :)

I just ordered the CD-RB20 via eBay. Thanks for the hint!

So I have two other IP Bus devices (iPod CD-IB100 and Sirius SIR-PNR1)
and so I bought the CD-RB20. Bad advice.
It turns out I need the RB10 and it must be at the end of the daisy
chain as it doesn't have an IP-Bus Out port.
The RB20 is for use ONLY with a changer that can be used in "no disc"
mode so, although the changer is "on" it is not outputting any audio.
If you have the RB20 in use (as I tried), it plays through the AUX
channel on either the iPod or the Sirius AUX setting. It does not add a
third AUX device and so audio from the external device I was trying to
hook up (a laptop) plays over the top of the other AUX device. No good.
I just ordered the RB10 and hope that solves my problem.
Thanks for the hint but it was a bum steer :-(
Guess I'll have an RB20 on eBay :-)
I appreciate the help. I'll post how it all shakes out.
