IMO Classic has been a hit and miss label with many reissues being way too
bright. Miles Davis Sketches of Spain is a perfect example. But, after spending
a lot of time listening to their reissues of Peter Gabriel and Genesis, I have
to say each and every one is a real winner and the best version I have heard of
each title.

Not to mention their Zeppelin pressings are so good, that they managed to knock
the prices down of the japanese AMJY - or Final Vinyl - pressings.

All the Genesis stuff I heard before Trick Of the Tail sounded like there
were burlap bags in front of all the mic's.

Are you talking about the Classic issues or other versions? I have a Japanese
issue of Tresspass that is fantastic. That was my best sounding Genesis LP
before the Classics reissues. I have yet to hear a satisfying version of Trick
of the Tail. To bad Classics stopped at The Lamb lies down on Broadway. If you
are talking about the classics reissues we are hearing something very
different. If you are talking American pressings or American CDs I would agree.
They were very bad.
