View Full Version : Placement of Athena Speakers

Good day,

I've just purchase a set of the Audition BS2 (2 sets), 1 ACS1 and 1
ASP400 Sub woofer.

Unfortunately, I'm having difficult getting the sound out of them that
I desire. After reading all of the documentation and reviewing the
displays, all of the location of speakers seemed to be shown in a
chart with a perfect room. Unfortunately, we don't have that to work
with. Please see picture below.

What I found with this setup is that the ASP400 is weak. The volume
needs to be at 7-8+ to get some sound out of it. Is this a weak
feature of the sub or placement? What can I change to make it bring
out the quality sound? How will it work behind the TV?
What I found is that it sounds more on the outside of the entrance
then the sitting area.

Any ideas on what can be done to improve the sound? I'm willing to
move stuff around in the room if it helps? By the way, the receiver
pushing the speakers is an Yamaha Rxv540 (80 watts per channel)

TV will be an Hitachi 51"f500 series wide screen
Sub

Speaker (between TV and back wall)
Center channel is ontop of the TV (line)

Any info would be appreciated as for I find the bs2 speakers a little
low on the mid to bass side.

I've read reviews and there are a lot of compliments to these speakers
and I'm quite content with them..

Thank you,

The sofa should be where I put it - as close to a wall as possible
to reinforce the sound.

What is the issues if the sub is that close to the sofa? Will it over
power the sound to a certain extent?

Also, are there anymore suggestions that you can offer? I'll ber
revieweing the layout when the TV comes in.

Thank's for the info,

Well, the fireplace is a huge dead zone, so putting the surround
speakers next to it seems like a good choice - there is no
center channel to try to work around(or screen).

The sub is close because you want it near a wall and also not next
to any one speaker - so that looks like the best spot(right where you
originally had it) The sub should fill in the bottom-end and not
sound thuddy(car sub sounding).
