Apparently, some doubt the reality of speakers catching fire.
The below link details a recall of Cambridge Audio loudspeakers for this
reason.

Certainly, given the rumors, the possibility of an ignition hazard from
"Jupiter Audio" speakers cannot be ruled out.

with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), today announced a
voluntary repair program of its SS-2100 and SS-3100 stereo speakers
because of a possible fire hazard."
