I hooked up an alpine 400w two channel amp to my subwoofer and I got no
output to the speaker. My headunit had a setting for woofer on, or
off, and I toggled that setting with no success. I my amp busted? I
had power to the amp. is there anyway to check to see if the amp is
working properly aside from hooking it up?

did you check at the amp with a DMM to see if you were getting 12v to the
power and remote?

My amp, while not Alpine, has two setting/connects for high/low, and
it makes a difference how I have it hooked up...
