I assume you saw Elvis Costello on A&E's "Live by Request" a couple of
nights ago. What did you think? I thought it was a mixed bag--Steve
Nieve was exceptionally good, though.

Actually, I missed it. I'm TIVO'ing it tomorrow morning.

I haven't heard the North stuff yet. I'm a bit skeptical about it
because it all sounds a bit too literal about his recent love life.

And I STILL haven't decided who's slumming whom in the Diana Krall
relationship.

Tomorrow will be the first time I've have heard any of the songs from
Norith (with the exception of a single live song that somebody posted
recently).

I really like Steve Nieve's ingenuity on keyboards, even if it
probably doesn't hold him in much stead when he acts as Vanessa
Paradis' live musical director. Joe Le Taxi indeed.

For me the two "North" songs he did were the highlight of the evening.
He struck me as a good live performer, but the studio versions of the
songs just seemed better. Radio classics like "Pump it Up" and
"Accidents will Happen" have a certain (produced?) sound to them, and
that didn't come across live.

I had no idea they were an item. I'm disappointed because she's a
disappointment musically. Elvis isn't exactly the best looking guy in
the world, of course.

I'm not sure what that last comment means. Certainly Johnny Depp has
the better end of the Vanessa Paradis situation. (So to speak.)
