recording of telephone calls, quality

Hi all,

we have recordings of telephone calls on tape and wan't
to record them on a Mac (OS-X). This ist no problem with
audacity for example.
But the quality is telephone like, very croacking sound.

Witch filter can I use to enhance the quality a little bit?
