I agree. Ultimately its introspection that causes people to
make big changes in their life.

I agree. If Stereophile cleans up their act, there will be
any number of pipers to pay.

The paradigm shift is apparent. There's a lot less room for
Stereophile-style mystecism in the 21st century.
Stereophiles reader base has been baby boomers, and they are
getting old enough that audio is no longer a biggie for
them. They are starting to be buried. There just aren't a
lot of magazines subscriptions that are delivered to vaults
in graveyards, or even nursing homes.

Say what? Galapagos in what sense - the common one of a
long-running bad idea that consumed massive resources and
finally collapsed?

He's referring to a refuge for animal lines with dead-end evolutionary
lines.

True, but I was really thinking of it as a place relatively free of modern
predators.
In a "Galapagos of publishing", a magazine would not need to compete.
It could simply continue to exist as long as there were some small species
of readers that supported it.
But Stereophile is not small. It is the Great White Shark of audio
publishing. It must swim and eat constantly, or it dies.

Agreed. As the largest ragazine in its niche, its main
competition comes from outside the niche.

That species seems to be itself shrinking.

Magazines can shrink gracefully, AFAIK sharks can't.

Krooger wasn't agreeing with you. He was doing his "been there done, that" dance
to "prove" that he would have been right if he'd said what he didn't say.

Oh, you mean sort-of like you and your old man, who's been taking care
of you for the last 50 or so years, sheltering and protecting you from
having to compete for sustenance and survival? It's a jungle out there.

You waste bandwidth, Bob. That's what you do.

What kind of introspection turned your life

Jon,
"Bandwidth waste" has not been a consideration with usenet text posts
for some years ago. It's a straw horse, a joke. Text posting consumes an
immeasurably small fraction of internet bandwidth. As far as usenet
bandwidth, binary posts consume many orders of magnitude more bandwidth than
text posts.
So your point, John, is BULL****.
PS: You're wasting bandwidth.

You really are pathetic, Morein. First you say you are not wasting
bandwidth the claim I am. What a moron.

I am being ironic, Jon. Neither of us can "waste" bandwidth. The capacity of
the internet has expanded several orders of magnitude since bandwidth was an
issue.
PS: You're still wasting bandwidth.

Actually, more like sarcastic. Its the only way to deal with those
imbeciles.
PS, this was not a waste of bandwidth.
